Just chillin

A quiet day today. Nothing adventurous planned as we are winding down in readiness to head back off the island to Hanoi. 2 nights then off to NZ for LynNZ and Malaysia for Crispy and me.
We have enjoyed our time on Cat ba and it has been a contrast to the other places we have visited. We are all looking forward to getting back to the hustle and bustle of Hanoi.
During our time on the island we kept seeing a group of lads all 18 or 19 years old but not your typical traveller types by any stretch of the imagination. She’ll suits, base ball caps and constantly inebriated . They would seem more at home in Benidorm or Tenerife. We kept wondering how in heavens name they had made it to Cat ba without their mum’s with them. It’s not any easy place to get to in the scheme of things and requires a little bit of brain power and organisation.
We found out later that a tour company called “castaways” runs trips for groups of young people and escorts them to places off the regular tourist path. The main group, who seemed more switched on, had disowned them and left them to strut their Kevin and Perry stuff on their own.
Annoying little shites everyone of them. This is the first peeling of the bell that heralds the death knell of Cat ba and places like it.

God help us
