well I booked a bus and ferry ticket and we travelled the 4 hours back to Hanoi. You can tell your approaching when the first scooter or car horn sounds. Shortly it builds to two then three and before long it’s the constant cacophony that is the soundtrack to most Asian cities.
Our accommodation this time is a little house down a long dark alley that is the home of several families.
Hard to find but once again perfect. We got in around 5pm so a quick shower and back out into the heaving throng. We found a bar then went back to the bbq restaraunt where we first ate. The staff were different. Crispy is convinced that it is a different one from the first one we visited. She might be right as it all looks the same and navigating is difficult even with the aid of our eye pod computer map thingy. It’s been an amazing, long two weeks that has flown by before we realised it. Long in so much as we have travelled the length of northern Vietnam and done some amazing things. Flown by because we have had such a fantastic time doing it.
Tonight was our last real night so we found a comfy bar. Settled in and spent a fortune getting squiffy. We met some nice young travellers that latched onto us for advice and chatted and drank till midnight.
Before we knew it we were all a little worse for wear and had to navigate our way back to our back alley and home. After Hoi An my compass was on and we got home without incident.
I’ve never seen LynNZ drunk before and it is hilarious. I shall say no more to protect her modesty and good character. Or maybe I should commit it to the blob for posterity including the resurfacing of the IEG symptoms.
Bare, LynNZ and Crispy signing off Hanoi, 🇻🇳
