we made our way to the train station. I had booked the tickets weeks ago to guarantee our beds so there was no messing about at the station. We are in the middle of Vietnam and now need to head north back towards Hanoi. All travellers tell of the beauty of Nimh Bin. It is supposed to be breathtakingly spectacular, In fact part of the recent King Kong movie was filmed there, so it was a must see on our itinerary.
The journey is 12 hours overnight by Vietnam Railways sleeper train. I must admit both Crispy and LynNZ were a little trepidatious about this leg of the journey with no idea what to expect.
There are four levels of comfort on a sleeper train. Hard seat. Does what it says on the tin. Soft seat same seat with a cushion. Sleeper, a shelf or hammock in a shared coach or a soft sleeper. A 4 bed compartment with ac and power sockets. I had chosen the soft sleeper option to keep on the girls good side. It’s the most expensive option but the girls are worth it and I couldn’t imagine Crispy or LynNZ snuggling down for 12 hours with a cute sweaty Vietnamese guy. The train was on time and we all clambered on board. With cautious excitement the girls made their way along the coach to our cabin and slowly opened the door. They were delighted. At that single moment in time I could have told them that I pull baby bunnies ears off for fun and they would have still loved me. We settled in, poured a drink and watched Vietnam slip by from the comfort of our beds. It had been a busy couple of days so we turned off the lights
and had a great nights sleep while the train rattled and jerked it’s way slowly northward towards Nimh Bin.
Bare, Crispy and LynNZ signing off, a night train, somewhere in 🇻🇳
