Any one for Madeira

Well we are here in sunny Funchal. Madeira. It's not really travelling as we are saving that for January. This is just a cheeky little week away from the cold and grey skies of old Blighty. A chance to do some walking, cycling and hopefully a little whale watching. It's a last minute break, which if truth be known, usually turn into some of the best adventures.

A few weeks ago we were sat in front of the fire at Crispy central when Dear old Crispy announced that she needed a little adventuring. We haven't been away since June and winter is quickly creeping upon us.

The warmth and blue skies of the Turkish riviera in June is fading fast and the travelling in January seems a long way away.

I seize these impromptu moments and quickly grabbed the eyepod. A few minutes of searching discovered cheap flights to Madeira.

It's been one of those places on the list that gets passed over for more exotic locations but this seemed the perfect opportunity to give it a go.  A few clicks on the screen and we were booked. A few more clicks and the accomodation was sorted and organised.

We are staying in an old winery in the centre of Funchal close by the harbour and tourist sights. A huge apartment with all the comforts of home. We have just arrived and are going to grab an early night. Our first walk is tomorrow and unusually for us I have booked a guide to take us over the highest peak on the island.  Being an organised walk we are being picked up at 8am. The middle of the night as far as dear old Crispy is concerned. She's used to a more civilised hour to start her day.

We have been to the supermarket to procure the necessary essentials for our outdoor adventure and just chilled in the apartment in readiness for our early morning foray into the great outdoors. There has been no time for photos today but I shall ensure I take some tomorrow during the hike.

I don't normally blob about our little holidays but I think this is a little different so will grant it an inclusion here.

We are both looking forward to it.
