We have been busy here in Auckland catching up with the clan. LynNZ and Kev have been tied up (figuratively not physically I think) making the final arrangements for their big day in between driving us around to meet the rest of our expanding clan. It has been fantastic for us to meet and spend time playing with the new kids on the block. Cole and Odelia. Crispy is in her element. I myself have never been a fan of children and have real problems getting kids to bond with me as the photos will testify.
David and Lisa have flown in for the wedding from Australia after visiting Lisa,s family in Brisbane. I think we get the opportunity to meet up and spend more time together when we are in NZ than we do in the UK. I’ll let the pictures fill in the rest of the details.
Thursday was the big day. LynNZ and Kev had opted for a small personalised affair. Here in New Zealand it is popular to hold the wedding at home. The Celebrant, or registrar, comes to the house and performs the ceremony in your own front room. It’s a great way to do it and very personal. Lots of tears were shed and it’s obvious that LynNZ and Kev have each found their soulmate. They make an incredible couple and we are so pleased for them.
After the ceremony we went out for a wedding lunch at a local restaurant in Pukekohe before retiring to a local pub for several drinks. The weather has been wet and windy whilst we have been here. A large cyclone hit North island just as we were arriving and has dragged bad weather in from the South Pacific. It hasn’t spoiled anything as this time is family time and we have no real ambitions regarding sight seeing whilst we are here. We may have a few days travelling around locally if the weather improves to allow the newly weds to do the things newly weds do. (Wink wink LynNZ).
Today we are going to Anna,s for breakfast and meeting up with the kids again. This afternoon Dave, Lisa, Crispy and me are hoping to take the Pine head ferry into Auckland Centre. It must be many years since we visited Auckland Harbour and will be nice to spend some quality time with the in-laws. LynNZ and Kev will still be busy doing what newly weds do (wink wink LynNZ)
